Stay tuned and mark your calendars. You won’t want to miss this!
First off let me just start by saying that if your education level is higher than 5th grade I hope your answer is yes to the above question. Ok? Ok. Now, with that in mind I’d like to share some photos of a girl who claims to definitely be smarter than a fifth grader. In fact, she may give some college students a run. This is My. Yes, that’s her name. She wanted to do a shoot based on being involved in school and also just show her in an environment that adds a little bit of distraction from it at the same time. ENJOY!

Boost Mobile has always had a service that allows friends to stay connected. Most of their phones are GPS enabled and they allow friends to see where each other are. They can then contact each other so that they can meet up if close by. So in effect all of your friends can stay looped or “loopt” together. This service isn’t just limited to Boost Mobile but is available to any GPS enabled phone that can add programs.
What’s the point of all of this info? Well, not only is Boost Mobile now the official phone service provider for Thomas Photographers but we are now in the loop. You can send us an invitation to be in your loop too! We will be using this service for some exclusive offers that won’t be available any other way. We will have some give aways for those who are closest to us on certain dates and times. Add us to your list now because the fun is about to begin! You can find us by sending an invitation to our number at 843-202-5275. So all we want to ask you is, “Where you at?”

Well, it’s finally here! WordPress for the iPhone that is. Of course, it’s always been here. I’ve stated more than a couple times that I have enjoyed using my iPhone for writing on my blog. So maybe I should be a lil bit more specific, the UPDATE is here. WordPress 1.2 for iPhone has been released and it has a ton of new features. What that means is that blogging has gotten to be a lot easier for me to do now. Needless to say, keeping up with a blog takes a lot of dedication and time. Well, I always have my phone with me and so now it’s that much easier! I’m excited!!! What does this mean for all you faithful (and patient) readers??? You’ll see

When it comes to photography there is never a right or a wrong, just a preference. We all see things differently and have our ways of interpeting it. Photography is an outlet for that interpetation that many use. We’ve tried to always show things the way we ‘feel’ it but not necessarily the way we see it. The way we have tried to approach that is to previsualize our shots before we take them. It’s like the last post made showing how we used photoshop to put our final vision together based on some forethought. This post is going to show just a little bit of how we edit based on what we see in our minds.
Here are a couple before and after shots:

Ok, so earlier a photo of Caiti was posted showing a scene that is not commonly found in South Carolina. The photo can be found in the post directly below this one but for those of you who may be feeling a lil lazy, here it is:
The way this photo was accomplished was with the use of some photoshop muscles. The one thing about this photo that is definitely a reality is that it was cooold out there! (Well, Caiti was cold
) This photo was taken at approximately 8:30 in the night. Now this time of year in the southern hemispere it starts to get dark at around 5:30, so you can only imagine how dark it was by the time we took this photograph. Because I knew how the final image would look I took the picture in a way to simulate the look of sunlight. Three lights were used: Two on either side and behind Caiti and one in the front. The two on the sides and behind were going to simulate being outside on a sunny day with your back facing the sunlight. The one in the front was to let us see Caiti’s face and the front of her. Here is what the original photo looks like:

So, as you can see from the original it was definitely dark outside. In order to make it look as natural as it does, it involved some imagination and steady hands in photoshop to get a selection or trace around what we wanted to keep in the image. Well, the steady hands wasn’t exactly needed since the discovery of a new photoshop plugin called Fluid Mask. It makes the tracing very simple, clean and quick. So, once that was done it was simply a matter of putting the photo of the wintery wonderland behind her! So there you have it. No green screen or anything fancy, just a little bit of planning ahead and having a workable idea!
Hope you enjoyed the lesson!

Last year was an eventful year for us. We did a lot of shoots for seniors and did a few weddings and a few other things. I noticed however that we only made about 7 post! That is just unexceptable by our standards. Blogging is some intense stuff and it takes a lot of dedication. It’s definitely not an easy thing but it is worthwhile. The reason we haven’t been able to make post as regular is because we are on some other big websites that require so much attention. One of the biggest sites we’ve been focussed on is myspace. I’m sure you’ve heard of it. Everyone has their opinions about that site and to each their own. We’ve had some good results from it and some let downs but one thing is for sure is that it took sooo much time! This year will be different. We are leaving myspace and will be focussed on this blog and give it the attention it deserves… give YOU the attention you deserve!
Also, this blog is supposed to be a ‘behind the scenes’ look at Thomas Photographers. So more of that will be shown as well. That means we will be showing how some specific shots may have been taken and the process used to do it. So, we are looking forward to another great year and want to do things right. We need your support so please leave comments and feedback so we know how we’re doing. We are going to post photos as often as possible so you don’t have to deal with all the boring reading like you are now
. That may not always be possible though especially since we are going to try to post more often.
Just so your not left in the dark with no photos… Here’s one that we will give some detail on how it was done:
This is Caiti and we did this shoot with this specific shot on mind. We live in the south and there isn’t that much cold weather here so let me know how you ‘think’ we pulled this off
CHEERS!!!

Wow!! It has really been a long time since our last post!! I’m sorry, it’s been a busy last few months. As always there have been changes going on with us and how things are being done. But, instead of telling you about it I’ll just show as we go along. But, I know what you want… PICTURES!!!!!
The photo shoot that I will post for your enjoyment today was done in Downtown Charleston. Our clients are some of the funnest that I’ve had the pleasure of working with. Cherelle and Charmaine are twins and they have so many similarities as most do. They seem to complete each others’ thoughts and sentences all the time. But that’s not the most interesting thing about these girls. These girls are ALWAYS smiling!!! That’s always good in my book
. Their happiness is contagious and is sure to infect all those surrounding them. So, enough reading and waiting… LET’S SEE SOME PICTURES!!! Please enjoy and feel free to leave some comments and thoughts
.

It’s been a while since our last post due to some difficulties with our computer. We were down for quite some time and got behind with some work. Now, things are back to normal and even a little better. We are happy to say that the post should be coming back on a regular basis once again. We have also once again been making some changes so be on the lookout for some new things from Thomas Photographers!

Have you been stuck between a rock and a hard place? If you haven’t I can tell you that is a very lonely world. It can seem like no one has ever been in your same situation. In fact though many usually have been there before. But you still feel all alone.
Recently, I was put in this rock hard area when my computer hard drive crashed. Needless to say that as a digital photographer… that hurt!
So, until this is fixed some productions have been halted until further notice. Namely, the blog posting is put on hold for now. I can obviously still make blog post (thanks to my iPhone
) but I don’t have all the photos to show you and vidoes to upload. So, until my computer is back…. please be patient. By the way, here are a couple of sneak peaks that I do have that I can share with you.
